Looking at the picture I see her smiling at me
As if she can see my face
Or feel my love
The smile turns weak as traces of sadness covers her face
The happy glow gone from her
Signs pointing to a tired soul
Tired of running
Tired of hiding
Tired of being afraid
Tired of being alone
Every song on the radio tells of a broken heart
A lover left behind
Left while the other pursues a life without them
Not a shred of truth is held within however
Both scared by passing events
Carrying wounds cut deep within the soul
Wounds left untended and left to bleed
Wounds that only the other could heal
Grown to hate this tragedy I grow angry in the darkness
To scar you so heavily
To make you hurt
To make you bleed
I curse their names if only they were known to me
Yet every evil comes from one’s own soul
Every incident a reaction to misdeeds
And so I curse my own name
Where intention means nothing, only the outcome is reality
Terrible things happen with good intensions
A self fulfilled prophecy is borne once again
No harm did we mean
Acting in passion we dreamt of a future
We acted on a dream not yet a reality
We played out a future not yet able to be felt
And we filled a gap not yet meant to be filled
Knowing it well we crossed the line
A line well placed before us
Placed for our own good
Placed for our own protection
We crossed pretending to not have seen it
Pretending that it wasn’t there
Pretending that it wasn’t for us
Yet no matter how hard we wished for a future to come into the present
No matter how badly we wanted to erase that line
No matter what we could tell ourselves to make everything right
We still could not make right that which was wrong
We could not erase a past that yearned to be placed in the future
We could not restrain the words from our mouths or glances within our mind
We could not hold back the yearnings of our souls
Thus now we have no choice
Barren we must wait
Wait until we have atoned
Until our hands are washed clean
So I strive yet today for that future
Yet I know patience must be held
For it was the lack of patience for which we suffer
